Sport

Sport is a fundamental part of life at St Ursula’s College with the emphasis being on fun, will challenge, nurture, and inspire girls to excel and to maximise their potential.

We believe that participation in sport helps to:

  • Develop motor skills
  • Builds leadership skills
  • Strengthens character traits
  • Grows resilience
  • Develops teamwork strategies
  • Increases school spirit.

We encourage all girls to engage in the College’s sporting activities for fun, friendship, or to reach their highest potential. With around 310 students participating in various College sports teams, we ensure they are supported and thrive in a healthy environment.

Sporting Opportunities

An array of sporting activities are offered in both competitive and non-competitive atmospheres. We encourage all girls to ‘have a go’ and provide plenty of opportunities to apply and adapt skills across multiple sports. The College competes in a variety of sports at both a local, district and state level. Girls are given access to participate in all local, regional and state trials through the Darling Downs School Sport Pathway.

St Ursula’s College provides access to specialist sporting coaches at no additional cost for students interested in pursuing a sporting pathway to enhance their skills in their chosen sports.

The sports offered at St Ursula’s College include but are not limited to:

    House System

At St Ursula's College Toowoomba, our students are proud to represent their sporting 'House'. There are four school Houses:

    • Stella (yellow)
    • Speranza (blue)
    • Carita (red)
    • Fiduccia (green)

Each House has 2 overall Senior Captains and 2 leaders from years 7-10. These students are elected by their peers.

House points are earned in House sport competitions, for demonstrating leadership and displaying initiative. To encourage participation at swimming and athletics carnivals, children are awarded House points for participating in an event, irrespective of the result.
